Cracket cottage is just lovely and the owners have really thought of everything. The real fire was just fantastic. For a simple get away for the hustle and bustle of daily life this place is just perfect. There are some good walks from the village and so it's absolutely ideal for dog owners. Note that you are a good 20 miles from a large supermarket do go prepared. The local shop is well stocked but opening hours are limited.

The cottage is approx 270 years old and will still be there in 270 years. Traditional cottage with walls 2 feet thick and the silence is deafening, magic! Oh and you have to make your own fire!. The cottage has everything you will need, lashings of hot water and is spotless.

The cottage is in an excellent location, directly opposite a pub and behind that there is a park with some swings and a path to the river. There is a shop just along the road within walking distance. Westgate is a great spot to explore the surrounding areas i.e. North Pennines and beyond etc. We had not visited the area before and were glad we chose the location. The cottage is well supplied with everything you could need, decorated throughout with antiques and other odds and ends. The property was ideal for our family of two young children.
